Epoxy Flake Flooring Melbourne

Residential Garages

Floor Lab installs epoxy flake floors in garages across Melbourne. Our most popular finish: hard-wearing, easy to clean and good at hiding the marks a garage collects.

The garage floor most people choose.

A flake floor is an epoxy base coat with coloured vinyl flakes broadcast into it while it is wet. Once cured, the loose flake is scraped back, and the floor is sealed with a clear coat and a UV-stable polyurethane topcoat.

The flake texture hides small imperfections in the slab, dust and tyre marks far better than a solid colour, and the sealed surface wipes clean. It is the durable mid-range choice; metallic is the showpiece option.

Like every Floor Lab job, it starts with diamond grinding and a moisture-tolerant primer. That preparation is what keeps the coating bonded long term.

Where Flake Works Best

Everyday Garages

Single and double garages that see daily parking, bikes, tools and kids' gear.

Older Or Marked Slabs

Concrete with patch repairs or uneven colour, where flake disguises what a solid finish would show.

Workshops & Laundries

Home workshops, laundries and storage areas that need a tough, easy-clean surface.

The Flake Installation Process

Most residential flake garages take 1–2 days. All you need to do is clear the space; we confirm timing in your written quote.

Diamond Grinding

The slab is diamond ground to open the concrete and create a mechanical bond. We never acid etch.

Repairs & Primer

Cracks are repaired and a moisture-tolerant epoxy primer seals the slab.

Base Coat & Flake Broadcast

A coloured epoxy base coat goes down and vinyl flake is broadcast across the wet surface.

Clear Flood Coat

Excess flake is scraped back and a clear coat locks the flake in place.

UV-Stable Polyurethane Topcoat

A UV-stable polyurethane topcoat seals the floor for a hard, easy-clean finish.

What Flake Flooring Costs

Epoxy flake starts from $2,000 for a single garage and from $2,800 for a double garage. Size, slab condition and repairs set the final number.

Common Questions

Is an epoxy flake floor slippery?

The flake gives the surface more texture than a smooth solid-colour floor. If you want extra grip, for example near a wet entry, ask about adding anti-slip aggregate to the topcoat at the site visit.

Can I choose the flake colour blend?

Yes. We bring flake samples to the free site visit so you can pick a blend that suits the house and how much you want marks hidden.

Can a chipped flake floor be repaired?

Yes. A localised chip can usually be cleaned out, filled, re-flaked and re-sealed. Flake is also more forgiving than solid colour for small touch-ups.

How soon can I park on a new flake floor?

Cure times depend on temperature and the products used, so we give you walk-on and drive-on timing in writing for your job rather than a one-size answer.

How much does an epoxy flake garage floor cost?

Flake starts from $2,000 for a single garage and from $2,800 for a double, with the exact figure set in a written fixed quote after a free site visit.
