Metallic Epoxy Flooring Melbourne
Residential Feature Floors
Floor Lab installs metallic epoxy floors in garages and feature spaces across Melbourne. Pigment-rich resin, worked by hand, so no two floors come out the same.
The showpiece finish, poured by hand.
Metallic epoxy is a clear 100% solids resin loaded with metallic pigments. While the resin is still wet, our installers move it with rollers, brushes and solvent to create depth, movement and a marbled, almost three-dimensional look.
It takes more skill and more time than a flake floor, which is why it costs more. Flake is the most popular durable mid-range garage finish; metallic is the one people walk into the garage to look at.
Every metallic floor still starts with the same work as any Floor Lab job: diamond grinding, crack repair and a moisture-tolerant primer, then a UV-stable polyurethane topcoat to protect the finish.

Where Metallic Works Best
Showpiece Garages
Car collections, home gyms and garages that double as entertaining spaces, where the floor is part of the look.
Indoor Feature Floors
Living areas, studios and home offices on a sound concrete slab where you want a seamless, reflective finish.
Retail & Showrooms
Smaller commercial spaces that want a high-end floor without grout lines or constant upkeep.
The Metallic Installation Process
Most metallic single garages take around 2–3 days depending on slab condition and colour work. We confirm timing in your written quote.
Diamond Grinding
We grind the slab with diamond tooling to open the concrete and create a mechanical bond. We never acid etch.
Repairs & Primer
Cracks and pits are filled, then a moisture-tolerant epoxy primer goes down to seal the slab.
Metallic Epoxy Coat
Pigmented metallic resin is poured and worked by hand to build movement, depth and colour.
UV-Stable Polyurethane Topcoat
A UV-stable polyurethane topcoat protects the metallic layer and gives a hard, easy-clean finish.
What Metallic Epoxy Costs
Metallic epoxy for a single garage starts from $2,800. Larger garages, extra colour work and slabs that need more repair cost more.
Every price is a written fixed quote after a free site visit. We need to see the slab before we price it, and there are no day-of extras once the quote is signed.

Common Questions
How long does a metallic epoxy floor take?
Most single garages take around 2–3 days to install. The exact timing depends on slab condition, size and the colour work, and we confirm it in your written quote along with when you can walk and drive on the floor.
Will a metallic epoxy floor yellow in the sun?
We finish every metallic floor with a UV-stable polyurethane topcoat to help protect the colour. Epoxy on its own can amber under direct sun, which is why the topcoat matters on garages with doors that stay open.
Can I choose my own metallic colours?
Yes. We talk through base colours and pigment blends before the install so you know the direction. Because the pattern is formed by hand, the final movement is unique rather than an exact copy of a sample.
Can metallic epoxy go indoors as well as in a garage?
Yes, on a sound concrete slab. Indoor and garage floors get the same diamond-ground prep and primer; we assess moisture and condition at the free site visit before recommending it.
How does metallic compare to flake on cost?
Metallic starts from $2,800 for a single garage, while flake starts from $2,000 single. Metallic takes more skill and time to install; flake is the most popular durable mid-range option.
